Our history

Purpose

The Basin Wide Foundation was founded by local community leaders with the primary purpose and practice of mutual respect and service, to reach out to the entire Morongo Basin, seeking active opportunities to strengthen nonprofit organizations by helping them to achieve their goals; addressing economic, health, cultural, and environmental community concerns through partnering and encouraging

others to partner with governmental agencies, philanthropic individuals and companies, community

leaders, citizens, and nonprofit organizations to enhance the lives of the people in our basin.

History

Basin Wide Foundation was originally founded on January 3, 1996 as the Yucca Valley Foundation as a public benefit non-profit corporation to 1. stimulate and encourage development, redevelopment, or renewal in the community of Yucca Valley; (2) stimulate and develop other inner city, local, regional or community benefit activities; and (3) provide gifts, grants, or loans to other public or charitable organizations. In 2001, Yucca Valley Foundation changed its name to Basin Wide Foundation to expand the area served.

Founding members include James H. Boyle, Robert M. Thacher, Jack Brashier, Steven Frasher, Robert Dunn, S. Garvin, George Huntington, and Ken Morrison.
